31 Days of Hope - Day 10

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake…”
Psalm 23:1-3

Why is it that often, when we feel the most tired, sleeps seems so hard to come by? There have been many nights when I’m feeling downright exhausted, yet cannot succumb to sleep. Lately I’ve been dealing with the same issue with one of my children too.

I listen to the Passion City Church podcast almost every week, and not long ago, Pastor Louie Giglio spoke of listening to Psalm 23 before going to sleep each night. I started doing this, and noticed a difference.

It’s not hard to see why. What part of this passage is not peaceful? It all speaks of rest. The green pastures… the still waters… where all is calm. It's what we wish for here on this earth but often cannot seem to find. That’s because it’s only found through our Lord, our Shepherd.

When we let Him lead us as His little sheep, He tenderly cares for us.  He brings the peace that passes understanding. He quiets our soul and allows it to rest when everything around us is full of chaos.

He leads.

We follow.

And when we follow, He quiets us.  Moreover, we are content in His loving arms.

There are beautiful peaceful paths of righteousness that He is calling us to today. Will we choose to follow?
