"One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple." Psalm 27:4
The Psalmist understood the truth. There is only one thing we really have to get right. One thing that truly matters. He said that he asked just one thing of the Lord and would choose to seek after. He wanted to dwell in the Lord's presence and gaze on His beauty.
To be honest, I find that hard to do sometimes. I focus on all this little trivial stuff that so often really doesn't matter or have any eternal value. And then I walk around stressed and anxious because I've caused the stress. Go figure.
When we choose to seek the Lord above all else, we can trust that everything else will fall into place. Peace will follow. Joy will follow. And contentment will follow, because we are convinced that He's got us under His control. We will have hope because He will fill our hearts with it.
He's promised us that when we seek Him, we will find Him.
But first we must choose to really seek Him.
